LA GRANGE LIBRARY UPCOMING EVENTS

Library plans first Voluntary Simplicity group meeting for May 18 at 7 p.m.

The La Grange Library will host its first Voluntary Simplicity group meeting on Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m.

The group will discuss ways to live a simple and more fulfilling life. Attendees will learn more about living with purpose and without as much stuff. Participants are encouraged to bring their calendars and a few goals to share with the group. Future meetings may include clothing and cookware swaps, coupon sharing and speakers on related topics.

Dog Trainer Alex Brooks reveals best pet behavior secrets
at the La Grange Public Library on May 20

The La Grange Public Library will present Training to Be Top Dog: Guiding Your Pet to Good Behavior on Wednesday, May 20 at 7 p.m.

To help residents and their pets prepare for the infamous La Grange Pet Parade and beyond, canine behavior specialist Alex Brooks will present this special program on training dogs. The program will cover a variety of behavior-related issues including how to work with an aggressive, timid, or overactive dog; instilling basic commands (sit, stay, come here); ending excessive barking; and stopping destructive behavior problems such as chewing on shoes or furniture. Brooks will bring his own dog to help demonstrate the training techniques.

La Grange Public Library to host Final Exam Cram on June 1, 2 & 3


High school students are invited to study for final exams at the La Grange Public Library on June 1, 2 and 3 from noon to 8:30 p.m.

The Library will turn its meeting room into Final Exam Cram Central with plenty of room to study with friends or alone. Teens can enjoy snacks and study in a quiet space away from home while they prepare for final exams.

Author Eric Rohmann to speak at La Grange Public Library on June 5

On Friday, June 5 from 7 to 8 p.m., local author and illustrator Eric Rohmann will present a program on writing and designing a children’s picture book. A winner of the prestigious Caldecott Award, he will also demonstrate the art of illustration. Adults and children of all ages will enjoy learning more about how a children’s book is created from start to finish.

Rohmann’s program will be presented with generous donations made to the Tyler’s Time program series.
